Alberto is the Chief Administrative Officer for the District of Lake Country where he oversees its local government operations and provides advice to Mayor and Council. He has been in local government since 1987, serving as CAO in Italy first and then in Canada. Alberto held positions in small municipalities in the province of Asti, Italy, Delta, Pitt Meadows, Langley, Williams Lake, and now Lake Country, all in British Columbia. Alberto has a Ph.D. in Law and is an Adjunct Professor with the Political Science Department of the University of Northern British Columbia, one of the most progressive universities in BC. He teaches Local Government Administration, Municipal Policies and Decision-Making, and he is preparing a new course in Public Administration Leadership and Ethics. Alberto sits on the Local Government Management Association of BC Board as 1st Vice President, and on the Central Okanagan Economic Development Commission Board. He is also the Past President of the North Central Municipal Officers Association, and the Past President of the Association of Records Management Administrators of BC & Yukon. Alberto has also worked with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) as a Project Manager of a Leadership Capacity Building Program with the City of San Fernando, La Union, in the Philippines and sat on the National Committee of the Tsunami Recovery Program of FCM. In Williams Lake, he developed a strong working relationship with First Nations, which focussed in the areas of sharing municipal services and economic development partnerships. This work with First Nations earned the City of Williams Lake the Innovative Communication Award of the Fraser Basin Council in 2007. Alberto was born, raised and educated in Italy and he and his wife immigrated to Canada in 1993. He loves music and plays and sings for pleasure. Alberto’s first and foremost interest is his family. Together with his beautiful and talented wife, he enjoys his relationship with his 2 children aged 14 and 11. Alberto embraced Social Media since their inception and writes a personal blog and a District of Lake Country blog as he believes that communication with constituents is key to the success of one’s personal and professional development strategy.
